The Scarpa Mago is predominately designed for directing power through the big toe, giving it high amounts of precision, power, and sensitivty on smaller footholds. The Mago will suit any boulderer or hard sport climber, with stronger feet, looking for a high performance shoe that specialises in big toe pushing power.
The Scarpa Mago’s construction is built from the toe up. The TPS (Toe Power Support) is a thermoshapable insert that provides better support for the toes when pushing down hard, improves pulling capabilities, and increases precision whilst being flexible enough to not hinder smearing performance. The X-TENSION⢠system is designed for half soles and will support the arch and enhance toe power without sacrificing sensitivity. Scarpa’s trademark seamless big toe and four-toe panels allow for custom moulding and helps maintain comfort in the toe box when under high pressure.
Made from microfiber and leather, you can expect the Mago to stretch about a half size. The Vibram XS Grip2 compound (3.5 mm) will provide exceptional grip on overhanging holds and glassy rock, and with only a 1/3 length sole excellent flexibility.
It’s highly flexible for technical bouldering, but its stiff insert in the front will provide support for hard sport climbing and precision on small edges and microholds.
